Relief From Temporomandibular Joint Pain
Dental pain isn’t just experienced in your teeth and gums. Problems in your jaw are often felt in the temporomandibular joint where your jawbone connects to your skull. This powerful joint moves up and down and side to side, allowing you to chew, talk, yawn, laugh, and swallow.
The temporomandibular is one of the most complex joints in the body, but when problems arise, it can leave you with facial pain, severe discomfort in your neck and shoulders, along with headaches. Some people may experience tinnitus – a constant ringing in their ears, and vertigo.
Here at Winchester House, we can diagnose and treat temporomandibular joint problems to improve your quality of life.

Understanding Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
Several factors can cause temporomandibular joint disorder, including trauma, grinding your teeth, arthritis, and genetics.
Along with pain in the face, head, neck, and shoulders, you may find it difficult to open and close your mouth. Any movement of your jaw might cause a popping or clicking sound. Over time, you may also experience uneven wear and tear on your teeth and misalignments.

Treating Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
If you have a temporomandibular joint disorder, you’ll know how much of a negative impact it can have on your life. The pain and discomfort can make it difficult to eat, talk, and even sleep. With the right treatment, it’s possible to find relief and treat the symptoms.
We use Botox to treat temporomandibular joint disorder. Botox is an injectable treatment that’s used widely in medicine and facial aesthetics. Each injection contains Botulinum-A Toxin, a neurotoxic protein that relaxes tense muscles.
Once injected, the muscles will loosen, reducing pain and inflammation while easing movement. The effects of Botox will last for up to six months.
The Botox treatment for temporomandibular joint disorder is brief. Once we’ve assessed your jaw and have planned the process, we’ll inject the Botox. Following your appointment, there’s very little need to alter much about your daily routine.
